Well, I guess I will see who still checks this blog! Probably not a lot of people. We have had a very busy fall, winter and spring! Right now, we are 3 weeks away from summer break. Nate and I are looking forward to this! Hopefully when summer rolls around I will update more often--we will see! Here are some recent pictures of the kids. Enjoy!

This weekend I had some pictures done of Elaina and Hudson. First, our friend Erin came over and took a few shots of Elaina--they were so cute. Then, my mom, sister and I took Hudson and Elaina to a studio to take some pictures.

One Month!

Elaina was officially one month old on November 1st. It is really hard to believe that a whole month has gone by since we brought her home from the hospital. It does not seem possible!

Halloween 2009

We have had a busy Halloween week. It all started Sunday. Our city puts on an annual event called Halloween in the Park. We went to take Hudson trick-or-treating and met some friends there. Hudson did well at first but as soon as he saw that first scary mask he was done and ready to go. So, we left and went to have dinner with our friends the Hogue's and the Reifel's. Hudson and Madison had a lot of fun playing at CiCi's.

On the Friday before Halloween, I brought Elaina up to Nate and I's school. I went to my class party and Nate kept her in his office away from all the germy kids! After the party Elaina and I went to go and have lunch with Nana.

On Halloween night we went to a party at the Hogue's house. The kids look so cute dressed up and so did some of the parents. Our friends the Burkhalters had the night's best costume though! The guys took the kids trick-or-treating and after that the kids had a mini dance party. It was a great night!

We have had some visitors come the past couple of weeks to see Elaina. Nate's mom(Grandma) came for a week to visit us and help out. Hudson loved playing with Grandma and he had a great time. We also had our friends Dylan and Christina come by with their daughter Madison. Madison was so excited to hold Elaina and she did such a great job.

We also had a very special visitor come--The Hurt's. The Hurt's lived in College Station when I was a student at A&M. I actually use to teach Caroline when she was 4 years old! I also babysat her and her sister and both girls were in Nate and I's wedding. They moved to North Carolina a couple of years ago and we try to keep up with them via e-mail. Carolina and her dad were in town for a wedding and stopped by for a visit. Caroline has grown up so much and was great with Elaina. Here are a few pictures of all our visitors--they are a little out of order.

This Saturday we went to a little pumpkin patch to take some pictures. Hudson wanted nothing to do with the pictures. He wanted to play with the pumpkins, ride the tractor, play with the wheel barrel and just run around. What can I say--he's a boy! We tried to get some pictures but most of the time he would not even look at the camera.

I have to brag on my little boy--he is potty training and it is working! I would love to say that it is all the great parenting skills Nate and I have, but it is all our sitters doing! We are not at the point that we can go in public without any accidents or where we can sleep in underwear at night, but we are getting closer everyday. I am really proud of my little man and a I am also a little sad. This means he is growing up and before I know it we will be starting kindergarten!

Last night Hudson showed some interest in holding Elaina, so Nate and I jumped on it. What we did not expect was Hudson's reaction. He did not want to let her go! He cried when I took her back so I could feed her and cried through his whole bath because he wanted to hold her. At one point Nate took him out of the our room so I could feed her in peace and Hudson sat right by our bedroom door crying for her. We were a bit shocked! He was so funny when he did hold her. If you noticed my arm is in almost every picture so I can make sure she is supported well and Hudson did not like this! He kept telling me "Mommy I do it myself!" I think he just may be a wonderful big brother!

I know it has been a while since our last post, but life with a toddler keeps you busy! After a long HOT summer Nate and I are happy to have Elaina here. We are now a family of four, so I am sure it will be even harder to blog! Hudson is a great big brother and does not like it when his little sister cries.

Elaina was born on Thursday, October 1st. She was 7lbs and 9oz, but has lost a pound already. Hudson was unable to visit her in the hospital because he started running a fever on Friday morning. One of the kids at his sitter got the flu the day before, so we think that is what he got as well. If it had not been for my parents I may have been at the hospital by myself. They kept Hudson from Wednesday night to till Tuesday afternoon. I was so happy to have Hudson back. We have not yet gotten a picture of Hudson with his sister--hopefully we will get one really soon. Here are some pictures of Elaina though. She is beautiful and such a great baby! We already love her so much!

Imagine that sentence being yelled a million times in one minute. To say Hudson was excited about riding on the airplane would be an understatement! He really enjoyed having his own seat and even getting to buckle up. He did great on flight except the last 15 minutes when he had to get back in the seat and buckle up for landing. He was not happy with the pilot!

On Wednesday Hudson got to spend the day with his friends Marlie and Isabella at the beach in Galveston. My friend Jenny's family rented a beach house and she invited us to come down and hang out one day. So Sandra and I took Isabella and Hudson there for the day. Hudson loved digging in the sand, running around and playing in the waves. He kept calling it the "pool"! He played so hard that he played straight through his nap and lunch time. We had a great day and can't wait to do it again soon!

Father's Day

We had a great day today celebrating Father's Day. Hudson and I let Nate sleep in this morning and we also gave him a chance to take a nap later today. For lunch we went over to my parents and had a great meal and dessert. When we got to my parents my sister had set up a tent in the backyard for Hudson to play in. He loved it! Later that day we went to visit Ben and Emily for a while and then came home.

Tonight Nate hung up a picture in Hudson's new room and as soon as Nate started hammering Hudson ran out of the room. We both heard a loud crash and then Hudson came back with his hammer and work bench! He climbed on the bed and started helping his daddy--it was too cute!

We recently got back from our weekend trip to New Orleans. We met most of Nate's family there and we stayed in a house in the Garden District. We had a lot of fun seeing the sights of the French Quarter and we made sure to make it down Bourbon Street(which was interesting). It was a great weekend to hang out with family and enjoy the city!

Summer Starts!

Summer has official started for Nate and I. We had a workday today and now we are done! YEAH!!! We are both so excited about the summer. Nate is starting summer camps next week and I am going to be hanging out with Hudson. I am very excited about being with my little boy! I will never have another summer where it will be just me and Hudson. Elaina(we will call her Laney though) will be around next summer--that is crazy to think about! So, needless to say I am really looking forward to the next couple of months.

Well, here are a few updates. The family went to go and visit our good friends the Riefel's who just had their first child--Tabitha. Hudson did surprisingly well. He did not get jealous when Nate and I held the baby and he was very sweet to her as well. Maybe this was good practice for him!

We also moved Hudson into his new "big boy" room. We are still in the process of getting all the decorations up, but the bed was ready so tonight was his first night to sleep in his new room. He fell right asleep after his bedtime story and song. He looks so small in his bed, but it was time to make the move.

I hope to keep this blog a little more updated now that I am out of school, but we will see!

Well, Hudson is now officially two! I wouldn't say the the twos are terrible because he really is quite fun to be around and interact with. The only thing is he's a bit more independent. He now likes to get in his booster seat by himself, put his clothes on(which can be quite comical) by himself, comb his own hair, brush his teeth by himself and many other things. The funniest one is he likes to get his own shoes! Now depending on the day you can usually distract him and go and get the "right" shoes, but some days it just is not worth the battle. How bad can it be you ask, well his favorite pair of shoes are his Elmo slippers!!! So, if you see us in the grocery store, at church or anywhere else and Hudson has his slippers on don't judge us just know that it wasn't a battle we wanted to fight that day! :)

We were excited to have Jenni come into town and see everyone even if it was only for a little bit. She came in on Cinco de Mayo, so we took her to a local Mexican restaurant to eat. It was great seeing her!

Well, I know it has been a while since we have updated this blog. We do have a good reason though. Nate and I are expecting our second baby in October! We found out this week that Hudson will have a little sister and Nate and I are thrilled!! I know Hudson is going to be a great big brother. Anyways, since I am normally the one that updates the blog and I have not been feeling very well, we are a little behind. We will try to catch you up a bit.

Hudson is now 2! Time has just flown by. He can now speak in complete sentences at times, his favorite word is now "No!"(love the age 2), he loves to sing the Happy Birthday Song and his ABC's, he loves to play basketball--he gets up in the morning and says " momma, daddy, basketball", and he is looking more and more like a little boy! He is so much fun to be around and Nate and I can't wait till this summer! We are going to have so much fun!!!

Well, we have some pictures of things we have been doing in the past couple of month. We went to the Galveston County Fair and Rodeo, dyed Easter eggs with Nana and Pappy, had a swim party with friends, and celebrated Hudson 2nd birthday twice! We have been busy--Enjoy!

Day 4 of San Francisco

This was our last day in San Francisco. We were taking the red-eye flight home, so we had the whole day to check out the rest of the city that we had not seen yet. This was the hardest day! We took a big hike in the morning to see the Golden Gate Bridge and lets just say it was A LOT longer than we thought it was going to be. The upside was we got some good pictures of the bridge. We also had our anniversary dinner that night at a restaurant called the Cliff House. It overlooked the Pacific Ocean. We had a great time in San Fran and even thought we were sad to leave we happy to get back to Hudson!

Day 3 in San Francisico

For Day 3 Nate and I rented a car and headed out of San Francisco to visit the wine country and other sights along the way. We started this day very early and went to Muir Woods Park to check out the redwood trees. They were huge! Then we stopped in Sonoma and ate at a roadside dive called Juanita Juanita. It was really good though! Then we headed to Sonoma Valley to visit some Wineries. We went to the Benzinger Winery first and did their wine tour--it was beautiful. We stopped at a couple more before heading back to San Fran. Before getting home though we stopped first in a town called Sausalito. It had a great view of San Francisco and we enjoyed a great meal there too! Once back in San Fran we went on our first cable car ride and walked around Fisherman's Wharf. It was a really fun day!

San Francisco Day 2

I know it has been a while since we have posted pictures on our blog! Sorry about that, we have just been very busy! We thought we would update everyone by telling them about Nate and I's trip to San Francisco. We went to celebrate our 5th anniversary and we had such a great time. Here are some pictures of our trip but not all of them! Enjoy!

This was our second day in San Francisco. We started the day by sleeping in! Grandma Sue was keeping Hudson for us. (you can check out her blog to see what Hudson was up to) This was the day that we walked A LOT. The city has huge hills that wore us out! We went to a farmers market and got some fresh fruit. Then we went to China Town to do some sightseeing, eating and shopping. Then we finished the day by checking out some more local sights and having a nice dinner at a local cafe called Nob Hill Cafe. We had to climb about 4 hills just to get to it, but the food was worth it! We had a lot of fun visiting the sights of San Fran--it is a beautiful city! We will post more pictures soon!

Here we are in China Town. This was one of my favorite places. We also ate at the best Chinese restaurant, Hunan's Home, it was the best Chinese food we have ever had! They also had some really cool shopping--which I loved!

That is right you read the title correctly! We got about an inch of snow tonight! For those of you from the north that might not seem like a lot to you, but for us Texans this is a huge deal!! Nate and I took Hudson outside early in the evening and there was only a light dusting--it was not even sticking to the ground. Around 9:00 we went outside again and the snow was really starting to come down and it was sticking to the ground! We had a lot of fun!

Well, we had a great Halloween. My parents came over first and helped Hudson carve his first pumpkin, then we had some friends and their kids come over to hangout and go trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. We had a great time!

Halloween in the Park

We took Hudson to a local park in Friendswood on Thursday. There are booths from local businesses set up for the kids to trick-or-treat. We met our friends Jason and Sandra and their little girl Isabella at the park to let the kids hangout. I decided to save Hudson's pumpkin costume for Halloween night and I dressed Hudson up as a 50's boy! He looked cute.

Sidenote: If you notice Hudson has sucker in one or both hands in almost every picture--these are Hudson's new favorite things!

Well, this has not been a great month for the Holtvluwer's! All of us have been sick, University of Michigan is having a horrible season, Hudson has decided to get about 7 teeth at one time and he has also decided to start the terrible twos a little early! It has just been downright crazy at our house! Now to top it all off our computer has decided to crash on us thus making it impossible to update our blog! We hope that it is fixable, but if not we might be without a computer for a couple of months. Right now I am updating the blog on my work computer. We will have to find other ways post pictures of our cute little one. Terrible twos and all he is still a cute kid!!

Here are some good highlights that have gone on with our family this past month!

~Nick and Jenni came to visit for the weekend! Very fun!

~Hudson is talking like crazy. Nate went to go wake him up one morning and these were the first words that came out of his mouth "Daddy, momma, puppy" too cute! He also loves to repeat everything we say and I mean everything!! This means Nate and I really have to watch what comes out of our mouths--the other day I stubbed my toes and quietly said s@#! (not realizing Hudson was close) and Hudson repeated it--not good!

~Nate got to see the Detroit Lions play football against the Houston Texans (we won't mention that they lost)!

~The weather is finally getting colder in Texas!! Yeah! Hudson loves to play outside, and now he can--coming back inside is another issue though!

Well, that is all for now--Hopefully we will be able to post some pictures of Hudson soon. He is getting so cute!

Safe and Sound!!!

Hurricane Ike has passed and we are safe! We just had minor damage to our house, but nothing that Nate has not been able to fix himself. We are very lucky! Hudson and I evacuated with my mom on Thursday to my aunts house in Crockett(which is 3 hours northeast of us). Nate joined us early Friday. Hurricane Ike made landfall early Saturday and actually did some damage in Crockett where we were staying. We lost power in Crockett and at our house in League City. Nate went back home on Sunday and he got power back on in our house on Sunday night! We are the lucky ones, most people are still waiting for power. Hurricane Ike did leave its mark though, we have friends that have had extensive damage to their home and the city of Galveston is completely devastated. Summer's Over--School's In!

Well, summer is officially over for Nate and I. We went back to school with students on the 25th of August. We have been busy and have been trying to get back into some kind of routine. This school year is a little different for Nate and I. We are actually working at the same school. Nate got a new job as a P.E. teacher. He loves it and the kids love him(especially the boys)! Needless to say it has been a little weird to see him in the hallways at school. The other day I had to ask him a question in front of students so I had to address him as Mr. Holtvluwer--that was kind of strange. We have had a good summer and it was hard to start school again. We have both enjoyed being home and getting to spend time with Hudson. He is getting so big so fast. He has started to talk more and now has a big vocabulary. He can say Daddy, kitty, puppy, pappy(what he calls my dad), pawpaw, bird, shoe, juice, sit, ouch, T.J.(our sitters son), book, please(sometimes), hippo, baby, bird, goldfish, bee, stop, out(for outside) and his all time favorite...ball. Anything that is round is a ball. The moon...ball, the sun...ball, ritz crackers...ball. It is so much fun to hear him talk. We are still working on mommy--right now he points to me and says "daddy"! I will have a special post for the first time he says mommy! Well, here are some pictures from the end of summer--sorry it has been so long!

Nate and I went on a little "staycation" this past weekend. On Friday we went to the Galleria to do some shopping and then went out to eat at Cyclone Anaya's (the best Mexican food and margarita's that we have ever had). After dinner we went to the Cheesecake Factory for dessert and we spent Friday night at Hotel Derek. On Saturday we ate more wonderful food and spent the day in Galveston. My parents kept Hudson on Friday and Saturday night while Nate and I got to enjoy some time together. We missed Hudson a lot, but it was fun for us to hang out. When we picked up Hudson on Sunday my parents looked worn out! I think Hudson was too, because he took a very long nap Sunday afternoon!

We had a BBQ with some friends from our old small group. It was crazy the amount of kids that we had there. We use to call our group the "D.I.N.K.s" Dual Income No Kids--well not so much anymore. In about two years we have had a baby boom!

Nate and my sister took Hudson outside one day while I was cooking dinner and this is what I came outside to. Hudson was running around the backyard and playing in his pool naked. He was having fun and that was all that mattered. Because of all the fun he had that day he was worn out that night and slept so hard.

Cheap Entertainment

Nate found a great way to entertain Hudson. He loves to be pushed around the house in our laundry basket, but it can start to hurt your back after a while. So, my super smart husband decided to tie a rope to it and run Hudson up and down the hallway. Hudson loved it! The only problem was when we stopped he had a breakdown! Getting ready to go!

My little brother Michael is working this summer at a Camp Ozark in Arkansas. He came in for the night to drop off campers and pick new ones up, so we met him for dinner. Fourth of July

Nate and I had a wonderful Fourth of July. We went to the Friendswood parade, spent a little time at the carnival and watched fireworks at night. Here are some pictures at from the parade.

Summer Fun

Nate and I are having a wonderful summer with Hudson. We have been going to our neighborhood pool, meeting up with friends and just hanging out at the house. Here are a few pictures of our summer fun.

Our neighborhood pool is so much fun! Every time we go there is not a big crowd. They have a great baby area for kids to hang out in. Here are some pictures of us at the pool.

We got to meet some of my college girlfriends for dinner one night to celebrate Alyssa's(in the pink) birthday. It was fun seeing everyone. Missy(short blonde) was also in town from Maryland, so it was good to see her too.

Hudson loves socks. But what he loves the most is putting them in different places all over the house. I have found socks in our desk drawers, bathroom drawers and even his diaper pail. Lots of fun for mommy!

The last day that we were in Michigan we went to the mall to ride the carousel. Hudson loved every minute!

While we were in Michigan we went camping. We rented a camper and went to Holland State Park. Hudson had so much fun being outdoors and playing with sticks! He however got a bad case of pink eye and didn't feel that well the whole time. We did have great family time!

Michigan Trip Part One

One day we met Grandma for lunch and after lunch we decided to take Hudson to the John Ball Zoo. He loved looking at all the animals, but his favorite was the petting zoo. He loved grabbing the goats and the cow.

Well, my little baby is no longer a baby. He is now a little boy. Hudson celebrated his first birthday on the 25th of March. We had a family get together on that day(see pictures at the bottom), then on the 29th we had a party for Hudson with friends and family at the park. It was a lot of fun. The first year flew by and it seems to get more fun by the day. Hudson is a cute little boy who loves to be outdoors, loves balls, loves Buster (feelings may not be mutual), loves food, loves walking, loves giving kisses and loves his mommy and daddy.

Hudson has brought Nate and I so much joy the past year. Our lives have been completely turned upside down and we love every minute of it. We have enjoyed watching him grow up and change right before our eyes. We love him more than we could ever imagine and we can't wait to see what one more year brings!

Sorry about the long gap in between entries. We have been very busy with Hudson, visitors coming in and just life in general. Hudson is now one and had his first birthday party at the park. Hudson was also dedicated at church this past week. I will have to do these post another day, because it is getting late and I have to go to work tomorrow.

I did post some pictures of our spring break and Easter week. We had visitors from Michigan in town during this time and it was very fun. We kept them busy! We went to San Antonio to visit the Riverwalk, Alamo and Sea World. We also took them around the Houston area to visit different places. Well, enjoy the new post! More new ones to come!

Spring Break

Okay, I have a lot to update everyone on. Nate and I spent our spring break with Nate's good friend Phil, his wife Kim and their kids Tina and Bryan. We did a lot!! We went to San Antonio for part of the week. In San Antonio we took them to see The Alamo, the Riverwalk, and Sea World. We also took them to the beach in Galveston. Nate, Hudson and I went over to the Martin's house this past Saturday. They cooked dinner for us, which by the way was AWESOME!!!--thanks Jenny! Anyways, Hudson got to play with Marlie and we found out that we need to start teaching Hudson how to be gentle. He would grab Marlie with both hands and slam his head into hers. Marlie is a tough little girl, she would just look at Hudson like he was crazy and then walk away. It was fun to watch. I think they had a fun time together. Thanks again Martins!!

Well, I know it has been a while since the last post, but things have been very busy. Hudson is very mobile now and he keeps us on our toes. His newest trick is getting into Buster's water bowl and pouring it out on the floor. He has also figured out how to open drawers and cabinets! Hudson also got his first tooth and is starting to learn the word NO! He will also be ONE next month! My how time flies!!! Here are a couple of February pictures.

Well, Hudson is now 9 months old going on 10! He is getting so big, so quick. We are still waiting on teeth(hopefully they will be coming soon), he is crawling everywhere--very fast--he loves to have his mommy chase after him, he is pulling up on everything, and walking around furniture. I know this is really late, but better late than never...right? We had such a fun Christmas this year for Hudson's first one. We spend Christmas Eve and Christmas with my family in Texas and a few days after Christmas we went up to Michigan to visit Nate's family. Hudson got lots of cool toys and clothes from his family. He was also a good boy this year and Santa came to visit him. Nate and I used an old school stroller over Thanksgiving. If you would push it right it would go left, you push it left it went right. It had a mind of it's own. Nate and I would have to take turns pushing Hudson in this stroller so we would not get a hand cramp!.

Anyways, the last day that we were in Michigan we went shopping in a cute little town in Michigan and we were using lovely stroller. The stroller hit a bump in the sidewalk and the front right wheel snapped off! We still had about 2 hours left to shop and Nate had to try and push Hudson around town with a 3 wheel stroller--it was pretty funny!

I know it has taken some time to post pictures from Thanksgiving and our visit to Michigan, but Nate and I have been very busy. It is just that time of year. Well, here are some pictures of Michigan. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing family and friends. Husdon enjoyed eating his first Thanksgiving dinner--he ate mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes and some turkey and gravy. He got to see some snow, even though he will never remember it! He also got to practice more of his crawling and is really started to get around pretty good! He loved chasing after Belle(Nate's parents dog) and chasing after balls. Nate and I even got a chance to take a little shopping trip thanks to Nate's mom--she watched Hudson.

No, I am not pregnant!
Hudson is now crawling!!!!! My mom kept him today and he started to crawl for her. When I got home from work I saw him crawl some more. He was a little tired from crawling all day so he did not do it a whole lot for me. I think it is now time for Nate and I to baby-proof the house and teach Hudson the word "NO"!!!

Here are a few pictures of Hudson. He has a new face that he makes everyday, we call it his "bitter beer" face. He also loves to give me kisses now, well more like mouth wide open slobbery kisses, but I love them. Nate and I's church had a celebration on Sunday for the church. They had games, food and some cool rides. They also had a petting zoo. Nate took Hudson into the petting zoo, and Hudson loved it. The second half of our night we spent at our house passing out candy to trick-or-treaters. My parents came over to see Hudson in his costume and got to see him be a cute little pumpkin. Then he got tired of the costume and got mad! The only thing that would settle him down was a glow stick! He loved that thing!! The only way we could get one last picture of him with his costume was by using it as a blanket. So, that was Hudson's first Halloween! Pretty eventful for a little 7 month old!

Hudson Eats Solids!

Now that Hudson is 4 months old he can start eating solids! He loves his food! We started with squash and we will try carrots tomorrow. Here are a few pictures of him eating!

Hudson Update

Our little boy is almost 4 months old. Time has really flown by. He is growing up fast! Here is a little update on what he is doing now! He has started to roll over a little more and he can lift his head really well(as you can see below). He "talks" a lot more. He loves hearing himself! He has found his hands and they are permanently in his mouth. He smiles almost every time someone smiles at him. He has also given us his first laugh! That was the best to hear. He laughed a lot for Nate's sister and I when we were driving around the other day, and he went crazy when my brother did a little dance for him(thanks Uncle Woody). I have not yet captured a laugh on video yet. Nate and I are having so much fun and it will be sad when the summer is over. Here are some pictures of Hudson.

Small Group

This is our small group at church. We have all had babies within the past couple of months. We even have one on the way. We got together to say goodbye to the Thomsons. They are moving towards Bush Airport. Here are all of us together. Hudson is going to have a lot of friends to play with in a couple of months.

Emily's Wedding

One of the things that we went to Michigan for was Emily's (Nate's sister) wedding. The wedding was on a golf course right outside of Traverse City, Michgan. It was beautiful and it was a beautiful day! We had the chance to see Nate's family from Washington and Canada and they got to finally meet Hudson. It was a very fun weekend.

Summer Fun

Nate and I are still in Michigan. We will be leaving tomorrow to head back to Houston. We have had a very busy summer up here. As soon as we get home we will post pictures of our adventures--Emily's wedding, our first family vacation, swimming in the lake and many more things!
We are also excited about the adventures we have planned when we get home--My good friend Rachel is getting married in a couple of weeks are we are so excited for them!! Yeah Rachel and Jeremy!! I also can't wait for all my friends to meet Hudson at the wedding!

This week I have had my cousin come and stay with me while Nate was out of town. She did a great job with Hudson and was a huge help. Every night she would pack Hudson's diaper bag, she played with him while I would get ready, she read to him, gave him baths, and changed diapers all the time! It was wonderful!!!! We will miss her a lot!!

First Swim

Hudson went for his first swim the other day. My cousin Makenzie went with us, she is in town to help me with Hudson for the week. We went to my friends pool to swim. Hudson only got in for a couple of seconds, but he enjoyed it.
